ICC reprimands South african spinner for breaching Code of Conduct vs India

South african spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba has received an official reprimand following an incident during her team's ICC Women ODI World Cup 2025 win over India in Vishakhapatam on Thrusday.According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), A reprimand for Nonkululeko Mlaba after her actions following a dismissal against India were found to have breached the ICC Code of Conduct.

Mlaba was found guilty of breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

The incident occurred after Mlaba dismissed India batter Harleen Deol in the 17th over of the match in Vizag, with the spinner waving goodbye to the opposing player, after she had got her out, the website noted.In addition to the reprimand, Mlaba has been handed one demerit point to her disciplinary record, her first offence in a 24-month period. Mlaba has six wickets from 3 matches at the World Cup thus far, with her spell of 2/46 helping South Africa defeat India in Vishakhapatam.
