A disciplined bowling attack followed by a superb show by the batters compelled the Australian side to succumb before India at the Bay Oval here on Saturday evening. India rewrote record books after winning the mega finals by eight wickets with 67 balls to spare.Batting first after winning the toss, the Jason Sangha-led Australian team were bundled up in 47.2 overs for a paltry 216 run, courtesy the regular jolts by the Indian bowlers.
In reply, the Rahul Dravid-coached boys in blue hunted down the target with ease in just 38.5 overs. Manjot Kalra fortified the Indian innings with a scintillating 102-ball 101 run knock, decorated by eight boundaries and three sixes. Shaw, Shubham Gill and Harvik Desai contributed with 29, 31 and 47 runs respectively.(UNI)
