ICC Women T-20 WC: IND defeats Bang by 18 runs (Video Highlights)

Perth:India beat Bangladesh by 18 runs in a Group A match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, here on Monday.
Earlier, put in to bat first, India posted a total of 142 for six on a WACA pitch and then restricted Bangladesh for 124/8 in 20 overs, to register their second successive win of the tournament. 
Chasing 143 to win, Murshida Khatun scored a 26-ball 30 after her opening partner Shamima Sultana was dismissed in the second over by Shikha Pandey.
 
Once Khatun was removed by Arundhati Reddy, Nigar Sultana (35) tried to keep Bangladesh in the hunt. 
 
However, Bangladesh struggled against the quality spin bowling of Poonam Yadav who once again spun a web around the opposition batters as she finished with three wickets. 
Arundhati Reddy (2/33) and Pandey (2/14) took two wickets each, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad (1/25) accounted for one wicket.
 
Earlier, young opener Shafali Verma gave India a flying start with her 17-ball 39 cameo, which contained two fours and four sixes.
 
India crossed the 50 run mark in just the sixth over. It was Jemimah Rodrigues' and Harmanpreet Kaur's turn to steady the innings, after the whirlwind start.Rodrigues scored a 37-ball 34, but after her departure, India couldn't keep the momentum going. Down the order, Veda Krishnamurthy blasted 20 off 11 balls, to take India to 142 for 6 in 20 overs. 

For Bangladesh, skipper Salma Khatun (2/25) and Panna Ghosh (2/25) claimed two wickets each.Shafali Verma was given the Woman of the Match award for her brilliance with bat. (UNI)
