India beats Bangladesh in a thriller, wins Nidahas Trophy

Colombo: Team India defeated Bangladesh by four wickets in the summit clash of the Nidahas Trophy at the R Premadas stadium, here on Sunday night.Chasing 167 for win, India were off to a decent start, however, they lost a couple of wickets at just 32 runs.

Despite regular blows, the India batters contributed with valuable scores to help their side achieve the target in the allotted overs.While stand-in skipper and opener Rohit Sharma made 56 off 42, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik contributed with 24, 28 and 29 runs, respectively, to help India bag the title.

Earlier, put into bat after losing the toss, Bangladesh set a 167-run target against India.Despite a slow start, it was Sabbir Rahman's 50-ball 77, which guided Bangladesh to a fighting total, as most of the batters failed to show a fight.For India, wrist spinner Yazuvendra Chahal was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 3/18, while Jaydev Unadkat bagged a couple of wickets, conceding 33 runs.(UNI)
