India-Pakistan cricket match on International Day of Peace

New Delhi: Winning and losing was not on the scoreboard as the 10-over each side cricket match was organized and played for 'Peace' on the International Day of Peace 'Peace Day' at West Park, Carmel here. The IDP is observed around the world each year on September 21. 
Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution 36/37, the General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to "commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples." 
 
The theme for the International Day of Peace in 2018 is 'The Right to Peace - The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70.'
 
Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.The friendly match was jointly hosted by Indiana India Business Council (IIBC), India Association of Indianapolis (IAI) and Pakistan American Friendship Association (PAFA). 
 
For academic purpose India comfortably overtook the target set by Pakistan who batted first as India opted to chase. Pakistan posted 58 in 10 overs while India replied with 59 in just four overs and won. Mithun from India won Man of the Match by capturing two wickets in one over.
 
In the feast there were a variety of food items to choose from such as samosa, mango lassi, veg biryani, chicken riryani, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, gulab-jamun and water.
 
Zakir Akbar and Muzaffar Ahmed were the prominent personalities representing Pakistan American Friendship Association (PAFA). Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Balard graced the occasion with his presence.(UNI)
