Indian Navy congratulates Shabnam for winning of U19 World Cup

Visakhapatnam: Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Naval Command and all Naval Defence Civilians of the Command on Wednesday congratulated Ms MD Shabnam, the 15 years old young cricketer from the Naval fraternity at Visakhapatnam, who was part of the Indian U19 Women Cricket Team which brought glory to the nation by winning the World Cup 2023.
 
Ms Shabnam is the daughter of Mrs. K Eswaramma, Lower Division Clerk at Material Organisation (Vizag), while her father Mr. Shakil is a Leading Fireman at INS Kalinga, a Navy release said here on Wednesday.
 
Inspired by her father who was also a fast bowler and plays club-level cricket, she took an interest and started playing cricket at the age of 8.
 
Shabnam is a Fast Bowler who swings the ball both ways and clocked a speed of over 110 Kmph.
 
She has represented Andhra Cricket Team and subsequently the Indian U-19 team.
 
Shabnam's extraordinary performance also inspires her younger sister, Ms Shahjahan Begum, who also plays cricket for the Andhra Pradesh Women's Cricket U15 team. (UNI)
