Basel: India's journey at Swiss Open ended with Kidambi Srikanth's defeat in a closely contested semifinal encounter against Lin Chun-Yi here on Sunday.

The match, which lasted over an hour, showcased Srikanth's early dominance as he secured a lead and won the first game 21-15.

However, Lin staged a remarkable comeback in the second game, winning convincingly with a scoreline of 21-9, thus leveling the match.

The decider witnessed a tight battle between both players, with neither willing to concede much ground on the scoreboard.

Despite Srikanth's efforts to regain momentum, Lin maintained a slight edge throughout. With the score tied at 16-16, Lin capitalized on the opportunity, claiming three consecutive points to surge ahead to 19-16.

Eventually, Lin secured victory with a score of 21-18 in the final game.

Although Srikanth's journey at the Swiss Open ended in the semifinals, his performance marked a significant milestone, being the first time since the 2022 Hylo Open Super 300 in Germany that he had progressed this far in a BWF Tour event.
