Chennai: India's Sumit Nagal annexed the singles title in the Chennai Open ATP Challenger 100 Men's International Tennis Championship-2024 and became the second Indian to make to the top 100 in the ATP World Ranking.
In the final at the SDAT Tennis Stadium here on Sunday evening, Nagal, seeded second vanquished top seed Luca Nardi or Italy 6-1, 6-4 in straight sets to clinch his 5th ATP Challenger Tour title and the first of this season.
With this win, Nagal, who is at present ranked 121 in the ATP rankings, became the first Indian since Prajnesh Guneswaran in 2019 to make it to the Top 100 ATP World Ranking.
Nagal's ranking will now improve to 98 in the new list that would be announced by ATP on Monday.
