Abu Dhabi: Chennai Super Kings named West Indies all-rounder Dominic Drakes as a replacement for injured Sam Curran in a like-for-like change for the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
Curran was ruled out of the tournament after a lower back injury last week. The 23-year-old Englishman is also out of the England squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup with brother Tom Curran named as his replacement.
Drakes, an uncapped West Indies all-rounder, has played one First-Class, 25 List A and 19 T20 matches so far for Barbados. The 23-year-old Barbadian is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium pacer.
It is not yet confirmed if Drakes is available for selection for Chennai's final league game against Punjab Kings at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday.
CSK have already qualified for the Playoffs and are aiming for a top-two spot with a match to go. (UNI)
