Mumbai: Cricket legend Madan Lal expressed ire over Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venkatesh Mysore's role in playing XI selections which is affecting the team's performance.
"I am personally shocked and dismayed by (Shreyas) Iyer's revelations," Lal said.
Mysore's role in team selection was revealed by KKR skipper Shreyas in the post-match presentation. "Coach and at times, CEO is also obviously involved in team selections. Each and every player takes it well, and they have put in their best efforts," Shreyas had said.
Reacting to it in an open forum organised by Indian Sports Fans, Lal said coaches and captains should pick the team, not the CEO. "If a CEO decides on the team formation, then what are coaches and support staff meant for? That is the reason why the team is performing so badly on the field. Something is fundamentally wrong within the team," Lal said. (UNI)
