Mumbai: The Mumbai Indians' bus has returned home with a victorious smile and a renewed hunger to win from Delhi. Up next, they host the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium here on Sunday.

With 22 wins in 31 head-to-head games, it is no surprise that the MI-KKR rivalry has always excited fans.

Mumbai is a very formidable side in their backyard, and have eight wins in nine matches and six consecutive wins since 2013.

Mumbai haven't played at Wankhede since 2019. In that match, Lasith Malinga hauled three wickets and Rohit Sharma smashed 55 to guide Mumbai to a 9 wickets win and race up to No.1 spot on the league table.

Speaking to reporters on the eve of the match, Tim David revealed the possible plans of Mumbai ahead of the match by saying: "Well, obviously they (KKR) have got some dangerous batsmen, so our bowlers will get them out. That would be a perfect start for us. But no, it is tough to plan. I think we're more focused on ourselves."

On being compared to Mumbai batting coach Kieron Pollard, David said no one is going to replace him in the middle-order.

"I want to make sure that we win as many games as being the middle-order batsman you have to be adaptable to that position. Polly did it for a long time for this team and no one's going to be able to replace him as such," he said. (UNI)
