Lucknow: Sam Curan's (31/3), Sikandar Raza's brilliant half-century (57 runs of 41 balls) and Shahrukh Khan's (23 runs in 10 balls) aggressive batting helped Punjab Kings to beat Lucknow Super Giants by two wickets in a thrilling match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday.
Lucknow set a target of 160 runs in front of Punjab with the help of a half-century from captain KL Rahul (74).
Punjab achieved this target on the third ball of the last over.
The Punjab bowlers displayed excellent discipline and did not give any chance to Lucknow batsmen to open their hands.
Rahul top-scored Lucknow with 74, but he did so in 56 balls.
Chasing the target, Raza scored 57 off 41 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes for Punjab, although they were still 21 runs away from victory after his dismissal in the 18th over.
Shahrukh took it upon himself to take his team to the target. He hit one four and two sixes in 10 balls in his crucial innings of 23 runs.
Punjab needed seven runs in the last over and Shah Rukh hoisted Punjab's victory flag by hitting a four on the third ball after running for two runs in the first two balls. (UNI)
