Centurion: Jasprit Bumrah on Thursday became the fastest bowler to take 100 overseas Test wickets for India.
The 28-year-old achieved the feat in only 23 matches, breaking the record held by B Chandrasekhar who reached the milestone in 25 games.
Ravichandran Ashwin (26), Bishan Bedi (28), Javagal Srinath (28) and Mohammed Shami (28) follow the table now led by Bumrah.
Bumrah picked up three wickets in South Africa's second innings, including the crucial wicket of captain Dean Elgar. The other two victims were Rassie van der Dussen and Keshav Maharaj.
Elgar was standing tall for his side until the fast bowler trapped him. A Bumrah length ball nipped in from outside off to dismiss the left-hander for a well-made 77.
The Virat Kohli-led secured their first-ever Test win at Centurion as they defeated South Africa by 113 runs in the first of the three-match series, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
India started 2021 with history being scripted at Gabba, Australia and ended it with a historic victory at Centurion, South Africa. (UNI)
