New Delhi: Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev denied reports of joining politics.

The 1983 Cricket World Cup-winning team captain took to Instagram to quash the rumours.

"I have just received news about me supposedly joining a political party. This is completely untrue. I am not associated with any political party.

"I am very disappointed that people spread false news. Be rest assured, if I were ever to take such a big step I would announce it publicly," the former Indian all-rounder said in his Instagram story.

There were rumours that he would be joining Aam Aadmi Party on May 29 in a rally in Haryana's Kurukshetra.

In the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, some reports had also emerged claiming legendary Indian cricketer would be joining AAP, which were also been denied by him. (UNI)
