Kolkata football giants Mohun Bagan appoints Spanish coach

Kolkata:City football giants Mohun Bagan on Friday announced the appointment of Spanish coach Jose Antonio "Kibu" Vicuna for coming football season.

Vicuna joined Mohun Bagan from Wisla Plock, a first division Polish club, taking over from Khalid Jamil who was in charge of the Mariners in last season.

''With immense pleasure, we wish to inform that Mohun Bagan FC has roped Spanish UEFA Pro Licence Coach  Jose Antonio Vicuna Ochandareno  as the Head Coach for the 2019-20 football season, " Bagan's spokesman Imran Khan said in a statement.

" He has vast experience in European football having spent his time in Spain and Polish top division " Ekstraklasa," it added.

He will come to Kolkata by last week of June 2019. Mohun Bagan finished 5th in 2018-19 Indian League seasons collecting 29 points from 20 plays.

Shankarlal Chakraborty was the head coach initially and he was replaced by Khalid Jamil in midseason.(UNI)
