Kolkata Police begin investigation against Indian pacer Md Shami

Kolkata: The city police swung into action today, investigating the charges levelled against India's fast bowler Mohammad Shami by his wife Hasin Jahan accusing the cricketer of infidelity, adultery, intimidation, rape by his family member and domestic violence.A contingent of personnel from Jadavpur police station now visiting the cricketer's flat after Hasin Jahan this morning filed an FIR with local police station, a day a after she reported the matter to the Joint Commissioner of Police at Lal Bazar, the headquarters of Kolkata Police.She went along with her lawyer to the police.
 

Sections under 360, 498 A, 161 , 373 are among others non-bailable Clauses given in the FIR in which besides the cricketer, four other family members have been named. Hasin Jahan also alleged that the cricketer's brother had also attempted to molest her. She also claimed of being unsafe and asked for police protection because several unknown faces were around the flat premises after she posted a barrage of allegation against her husband for infidelity, adultery and womanising, even with a Pakistani girl.

Sources having knowledge in the investigation said the personnel from the Women Grievances Cell (WGC) may quiz Hasin Jahan and document her record for further prosecution.Meanwhile, reports said Mohammad Shami repeatedly denied all allegations, terming those as 'baseless'.Hasin had alleged that Shami abused her physically and mentally and was also involved in several extra-marital affairs.(UNI)
