New Delhi: Reigning Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra congratulated Pakistan's javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem on winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Nadeem broke the 90m barrier in the final to clinch the first-ever gold medal in javelin throw for Pakistan at the Commonwealth Games, beating the two-time world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada.
He shared a video from his performance on Instagram on Monday and Chopra was quick to acknowledge wrote a congratulatory message in the comments section.
Acknowledging Nadeem's efforts, Chopra said: "Congratulations Arshad bhai for gold medal and crossing 90mtr with new games record. Aage ke Competitions ke liye all the best."
His throw of 90.18m was the third best throw this year after Grenada's Anderson Peters and Czech Repubic' s Jakub Vadlejch throws of 93.07m and 90.88m, respectively.
Chopra, however, had to pull out of the Commonwealth Games after suffering a groin injury in the World Championships, where he won the silver medal. (UNI)
