Leeds: Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has equalled legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev's record of most five wicket hauls by an Indian away from home. He claimed another five wickets in the ongoing India- England Test match being currently played in Headingley.
Bumrah collected figures of 5/83 during England's first innings at Headingley, with the fast bowler joining Dev on 12 for the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian player away from home in Test cricket. Bumrah however will consider himself unlucky as the Indian fielders let him down dropping several catches of his bowling otherwise he could have many more wickets.
Bumrah received high praise from former batting great Sachin Tendulkar took to social media platform 'X' to congratulate him and pointed out that his wicket haul could have been bigger if not for dropped catches.
“Congratulations Bumrah! A no-ball and 3 missed chances stood between you and nau (nine) wickets,” Tendulkar posted.
