Olympic winners' sports equipment strike gold at e auction

New Delhi: Boxing Gloves gifted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Olympic bronze medal winner boxer Lovlina Borgohain has been valued at Rs. 1,92,00,000 on the first day of an e-auction of gifts and mementos received by the PM which started on Friday.

The mementos put on auction include sports gear and equipment gifted to the Prime Minister by winners of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Other interesting artefacts include replicas of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Chardham, Rudraksh Convention Centre, models, sculptures, paintings, angavastras and a number of portraits of the Prime Minister among other items.

A detailed wooden model of Ram Mandir placed inside a glass box has so far been valued at Rs. 3,00,000, a model of the Kedarnath temple has been valued at Rs. 10,00,000.
The javelin that was gifted by Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, the one he threw at the game, has meanwhile received the highest quote of Rs. 1,55,30,200 on the first day of the auction that will go on for 20 days, and conclude on October 7.

The javelin of Sumit Antil, who also won a gold at the Olympics, fetched a quote of Rs. 1,00,08,000, racket and badminton bag that she gifted to the PM by Olympic bronze medalist P.V. Sindhu has received a quote of Rs. 90,02,000.

Some of the other items that are on auction include boxing gloves used by Lovlina Borgohain that are blue with strapped handles at the bottom signed by the player herself, the badminton racquet autographed by Krishna Nagar,Gold Medallist in Paralympics, and a Table Tennis racket autographed by Bhavina Patel, Silver Medallist at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Proceeds from the e-Auction shall go to the NamamiGange Mission aimed at conserving and rejuvenating Ganga.

"Narendra Modi is the first ever Prime Minister of India, who has decided to auction all the gifts he receives for a noble cause of conserving the lifeline of the country- the river Ganges through “NamamiGange”," an official statement said.In this round of e-auctions, around 1330 mementos are being e-auctioned.(UNI)
