Islamabad: Pakistan’s performance in T20 Internationals (T20Is) in 2024 has reached a concerning milestone, with the national team suffering 16 defeats in 27 matches, according to local media.
This places Pakistan in a joint position with Rwanda, which also endured 16 losses but in 24 matches, for the most T20I defeats of the year, The Express Tribune reported on Tuesday.
This statistic highlights the ongoing struggles within Pakistan’s T20I team, which has faced inconsistent performances and a lack of cohesion throughout the year.
Despite Pakistan's cricketing legacy, the team has struggled to establish a winning combination, suffering defeats against both top-tier teams and lower-ranked nations alike, the report said.
In addition to Pakistan and Rwanda, Bhutan and Indonesia also had difficult years in the T20 format. Bhutan recorded 15 losses in just 19 matches, while Indonesia, like Pakistan, played 27 matches but lost 15 times.
