Gold Coast: Five-time World champion Mary Kom on Saturday became first Indian woman to win a debut gold in boxing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, here.

Thirty-five-year-old Mary Kom outclassed Northern Ireland's 22-year-old Kristina O'Hara in the final in women's 45-48 kg category.
Five-time Asian champion Mary Kom was awarded the bout with identical 30-27 scores by the judges, indicating that they believed she held the upper hand throughout the bout.
O’Hara lacked the finesse to counter the experienced Mary Kom who struck her at will, her right hooks being especially telling.

By the second round, 2014 Asian Games gold medallist Mary Kom seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself in the ring against her timid rival, taking the India's yellow metal tally to 18. (UNI)
