Jaipur: Rajasthan Royals has announced that head coach Rahul Dravid will not continue with the franchise in any capacity ahead of IPL 2026, ending his second stint with the team.

A franchise statement highlighted Dravid’s pivotal role over the years, saying, "his leadership has influenced a generation of players, built strong values within the squad, and left an indelible mark on the culture of the franchise.” Following a structural review, Dravid was offered a broader position within the RR, but he chose not to take it.

The 52-year-old legend, who returned to Rajasthan Royals in September 2024 after guiding India to a T20 World Cup title, saw his second tenure cut short after a disappointing 2025 season.

The Rajasthan Royals finished ninth, winning only four of 14 games, with several close matches slipping away. Dravid also spent much of the season confined to a wheelchair after a foot injury sustained while playing club cricket in Bengaluru.

The franchise is now considering options for a new head coach, with former coach Kumar Sangakkara, currently Director of Cricket, being a potential candidate to return.

The Rajasthan Royals, its players, and fans worldwide extended heartfelt thanks to Dravid for his “remarkable service” to the team.
