New Delhi: India batter Robin Uthappa has announced to retire from all forms of Indian cricket, bringing down the curtains on a 20-year-old professional career.

Announcing his decision on social media, Uthappa said he was looking forward to spend time with his young family and 'chart a new phase in his life.'

"It has been my greatest honour to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, all good things must come to an end, and with a grateful heart, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket," he tweeted along with a lengthy note.

Uthappa, who was part of 2007 T20 World Cup winning team, marked his international debut in 2006 and played 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is, scoring a total of 1183 international runs across formats. He was also a member of India's 2004 Under-19 World Cup team.

The 36-year-old has played all 15 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and represented as many as six teams in the tournament: Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals.

Uthappa, who won the IPL twice -- with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and with Chennai Super Kings in 2022, amassed 4952 runs in 205 IPL games at a strike-rate of 130.35 including 27 half-centuries.

In domestic cricket, he represented Karnataka, Saurashtra and Kerala. (UNI)
