Sachin Tendulkar to Hima Das: Indian sports fraternity pays tribute to Lata Mangeshkar

New Delhi: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rani Rampal and various other sporting heroes expressed their condolences on the demise of legendary singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.

The 92 year-old legendary singer passed away on Sunday after battling with Covid-19 and its complication for 28 days at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai.

Taking to Twitter, Sachin said: "I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of Lata Didi's life. She always showered me with her love and blessings. With her passing away, a part of me feels lost too. She'll always continue to live in our hearts through her music."



Virat Kohli said:"Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Lata ji. Her melodious songs touched millions of people around the world. Thank you for all the music and the memories. My deepest condolences to the family & the loved ones."



India women's hockey team captain Rani Rampal tweeted: "Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkarji will forever live in our hearts. My condolences to her the family. May her soul rest in peace."



Indian track athlete sprinter Hima Das: "Deeply saddened by the passing away of singing legend #LataMangeshkar ji, my sincere condolences and prayers."



Former cricketer VVS Laxman: "Pained to receive news of Bharat Ratna LataMangeshkar didi's demise. Her voice and melodies will remain immortal. Condolences to her family, friends and millions of fans all over the world."



"We mourn the passing away of the late singer Lata Mangeshkar, the Nightingale of India. May her soul rest in peace," the All India Football Federation tweeted.



Virender Sehwag wrote, "The Nightingale of India ,a voice which has resonated with, brought joy and happiness to millions around the world leaves. Heartfelt Condolences to her family and fans. Om Shanti " (UNI)
