Cincinnati: India's Sania Mirza and her Tunisian partner Ons Jabeur bowed out of the women's doubles event at the ATP Masters 1000 Western and Southern Cincinnati Open following a straight-set defeat, here on Wednesday night.
They lost to Veronika Kudermetova of Russia and Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan 7-5, 6-2 in the first round match of the tournament.
In the match, which lasted one hour and three minutes, Sania-Jabeur fired four aces and committed two double faults. Sania-Jabeur saved two of six breakpoints. This pair could win 19 of 27 points on first service.
Veronika- Elena unleashed one ace and committed one double fault. This duo saved five of six breakpoints while winning 27 out of 36 points on first service.
Earlier in the men's doubles first round match of the tournament, Filip Krajinovic of Serbia and Fabrice Martin of France defeated Rohan Bopanna of India and Ivan Dodig of Croatia 1-6, 6-4, 10-7. (UNI)
