New Delhi: Indian cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan on Thursday took the first dose of vaccine against the novel coronavirus.
“Vaccinated. Can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus,” Dhawan tweeted alongside his picture.
The 35-year-old batsman was part of the Delhi Capitals squad in the now-postponed IPL 2021. He was leading the run chart with 380 runs in 8 matches when IPL 2021 got postponed indefinitely on Tuesday.
Head coach Ravi Shastri was the first from the Indian cricket team to receive the vaccine. He got his first jab in the first week of March, when vaccination was made open for all senior citizens.
Last month, the government announced vaccination for all those above the age of 18 years in the third phase of nation’s Covid-19 vaccination drive that started from May 1. (UNI)
