Basel: India's PV Sindhu lost to Spain's Carolina Marin in the straight games in the final of Swiss Open Super 300 Tournament, here on Sunday.
The Rio Olympic gold-medallist Marin thrashed reigning world champion Sindhu 12-21 5-21 in the women's singles final in just 35 minutes.The second-seeded Sindhu entered the final after defeating the fourth-seeded Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt 22-20, 21-10 in the semi-final which lasted 43 minutes.
On Friday, she had defeated Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-16, 23-21 in the quarter-finals in 59 minutes. Earlier, India's ace shuttler PV Sindhu reached the second round of the ongoing Swiss Open Super 300 tournament after defeating Turkey's Yigit Neslihan 21-16 21-19 in her first match on Wednesday night.(UNI)
