Smriti Mandhana becomes 2nd fastest Indian to score 2000 ODI runs

Antigua:Adding another feather to her cap, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has become the second fastest Indian to score 2,000 runs in one-day internationals. The batswomen achieved the feat during the third and final ODI against West Indies, which India won by six wickets and clinched the series 2-1 on Wednesday.
Returning to the ODI squad after recovering from a toe injury, Smriti Mandhana came up with a stroke-filled 74 off just 63 balls, including 9 boundaries and 3 sixes. She needed just 51 innings to go past 2000 runs in ODI cricket. She Mandhana has become the second fastest Indian after Shikhar Dhawan (48) to reach the milestone.
 
Mandhana, who has 2025 runs from 51 matches at an average of 43.08, has got 2000 runs in ODI cricket faster than Virat Kohli (53), Sourav Ganguly (52), and Navjot Sidhu (52).Australia's Belinda Clark holds the record for being the fastest batswoman to score 2,000 ODI runs. She had taken 41 innings to reach the landmark and is followed by teammate Meg Lanning, who completed the mammoth task in 45 innings.
 
In men's cricket, retired South African batsman Hashim Amla holds the distinction of being the fastest to 2,000-ODI runs. He had crossed the milestone in 40 innings.(UNI)
