The southpaw born on this day in this city in 1972, as he is fondly called Maharaja (Prince of Kolkata) as well as "Dada", -elder brother, to his cricket companions and fans.
A prolific commentator and arguably the best TV host in Bengal, Ganguly was one of the Team India's most fearless captains scored a ton in his debut Test vs England at Lord's. The fearless number three batter faced 301 deliveries to hammered 131 runs which helped his team get back into the game, save the Test match.
