South Africa beat India by 135 runs in second test

Centurion: The Virat Kohli-led Team India once again succumbed to the strong South African bowling attack and lost the second Test of the series by 135 runs here on Wednesday.With this win, the hosts have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match rubber.

The visitors, who had already lost the first Test at Capetown by 72 runs, failed to chase the 287 run target and the entire team collapsed in 50.2 overs at just 151 runs. Rohit Sharma was the top scorer for India with 47 runs while Mohammed Shami chipped in with 28 runs in the lower middle order.

For the hosts, right-arm pacer Lungi Ngidi was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 6/39 while Kagiso Rabada bagged three wickets conceding 47 runs.India, who had scored 307 runs with the help of skipper Kohli's 153 run in reply to South Africa's 335 first innings' score, was handed a 287-run target for victory in their second innings.Both the sides will now clash for the final time in the series at the New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg from January 24.(UNI)
