South Africa has been hit with injury worries just before the second Test against India in Guwahati. The visitors currently lead the series 1–0 after clinching a thrilling 30-run victory in the opening Test at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
According to a report by News18 CricketNext, off-spinner Simon Harmer and all-rounder Marco Jansen were taken to the hospital before the team departed from Kolkata for Guwahati. While Harmer is reportedly dealing with a shoulder issue, Jansen is also nursing a niggle.
The concerns are significant for South Africa as both players were instrumental in their Kolkata win. Harmer produced a match-changing spell in the fourth innings and claimed a total of eight wickets across both innings. Jansen also played a crucial role, picking up five wickets in the match.
If either or both are ruled out of the second Test due to injury, it would be a major setback for the South African side.
