Bengaluru: Cricket South Africa sending third-grade teams to New Zealand sets a very bad precedent, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad said.

"Sad that it has reached this state where Franchise cricket has surpassed Test cricket in priority. Hope this doesn’t become the way forward," he said in an interaction with his fans on X.

He made these comments when he was asked about South Africa sending third-grade teams to New Zealand on the microblogging site.

A 14-man squad for their upcoming tour of New Zealand which only included two regulars. Due to all of their stars participating in the 2024 SA20, CSA had to select a team that had 7seven uncapped players.

Last year, South Africa also had risked their national cricket team for the SA20. They canceled an ODI series against Australia so that they could host their franchise league. By canceling it, they forfeited vital ODI Super League points. (UNI)
