Bengaluru: Former India player Stuart Terence Binny Monday announced his retirement from first class and international cricket.

"I would like to inform you that I have decided to retire from first class and international cricket," he said in a statement here.

Binny acknowledged the huge role BCCI played in his cricketing journey and said their support and faith over the years have been invaluable to him.

He also thanked KSCA for his cricketing journey and given an opportunity to captain the state and win trophies.

The reason for Binny to thank BCCI and KSCA was that he initially had struggled to find a regular place in the Karnataka lineup and signed up for the Indian Cricket League in 2007.

Playing for Hyderabad Heroes and India XI, he excelled in his role as an allrounder for two sessions in the rebel tournament.

Binny quit the ICL after BCCI offered him amnesty and returned to the Karnataka squad. He made important contributions in batting and bowling departments, which prompted the selectors to pick him up for India A tour to South Africa in 2013.

Binny's good performances were rewarded with his inclusion in India's ODI squad against New Zealand. His 6 for 4 against Bangladesh in the second ODI in Mirpur remains the best by an Indian bowler in ODIs.

The Bengaluru lad made his debut in the first Test at Trent Bridge. he could not do much as a bowler due to slow track, but as a batsman he scored 78 in the second innings to save the Test.

Commenting further on his retirement, Binny said representing India at the highest level has given him tremendous joy and pride.

Thanking all IPL teams, he said, "IPL teams have enriched my career. A decade to cherish with Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore."

From 2011 to 2015, Binny was in Rajasthan Royals lineup, but signed up with his hometown franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 2 crore, after the team's suspension ahead of the 2016 season.

Binny thanked the media people who covered his journey from the inception and highlighted his achievements. He also thanked coaches, and selectors, who put their faith in him.

He said the game of cricket runs through his blood, and he will always look to give back to the game that gave him everything.

As soon as the news of Binny’s retirement came, fans started trolling him saying his wife Mayanti Langer is his only achievement.
