Suresh Raina bids adieu to all formats of cricket including IPL

New Delhi: Former India batter Suresh Raina on Tuesday announced retirement from all the formats of cricket, confirming the end of his Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic career.

Raina had already announced his retirement from international cricket in August 2020 shortly after former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to hang his boots.

Taking to Twitter, Raina said: "It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket. I would like to thank @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities."

In his 17-year long career, Raina played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is for India. He amassed 5615 runs in ODIs and 1605 from T20Is. He has featured in 205 IPL matches scoring 5528 runs at an average of 32.52.

Raina made his first-class debut in 2002-03 for Uttar Pradesh. He went on to play 109 first-class matches, scoring 6871 runs and picking 41 wickets.

After making his List A debut against Madhya Pradesh at Indore in 2005 - where he played 302 games and scoring 8078 runs and taking 64 wickets- he was fast-tracked into the national side. (UNI)
