Florida: Team India Coach Rahul Dravid has hinted at a few injured players making a comeback in the National side for Asia Cup.
"We have a few guys coming back from injuries in any case. We have to give them opportunities to play (in Asia Cup)," he told BCCI tv in post-match conference.
Dravid's comments come in the wake of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer undergoing fitness training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Shreyas had suffered a back injury during the Test series against Australia earlier this year whereas Rahul sustained a thigh injury during the IPL 2023.
Both are recuperating after undergoing surgeries at the NCA, but there has not been any confirmation on their return into the national team. However, they might be a part of the preparation camp for Asia Cup at NCA, beginning August 23. A clear picture on their fitness will emerge during net practice.
Dravid said the team will have a week's time to prepare for the Asia Cup, and as of now he has not thought of it.
"I have not thought of the Asia Cup, to be honest, at this stage. We have some time off. We have a camp in Bengaluru from August 23rd. So we will be assembling as a one-day team there. We will have a week in Bangalore (Bengaluru) to prepare for the Asia Cup. We will take it as it comes," he said. (UNI)
