Sangareddy (Telangana): A 20-year-old B.Tech student committed suicide in the district after allegedly losing Rs 25 lakh in an online IPL betting scam.
Vineeth, a student from Sadasivpet town, was found hanging on Saturday while his parents were on an Ayodhya pilgrimage, the police said here.
According to sources, he borrowed money from various sources, including loan apps, friends, and relatives, but unfortunately, they lost money in an online betting scam.
The individual's suicide note, found after the incident, revealed that they had decided to end their life due to their inability to repay the money.
A case was registered, and the police have shifted the body to the government hospital in Sadasivapet for an autopsy.
