Dubai: India skipper Virat Kohli said that KL Rahul will open the innings with Rohit Sharma and he would bat at No. 3, a digression from earlier plans.
The earlier plan of Virat, heading into the T20 World Cup, was to open with Rohit and send Rahul at No.3.
However, at the toss of India's first warm-up game against England in Dubai, Kohli revealed his changed plans.
"Things were different before the IPL. Now it is difficult to look beyond KL Rahul at the top of the order. Rohit is a world class player, he has been fabulous at the top. I will be batting at 3. That is the only news I can give to start off," he said.
Kohli opened with Rohit against England in the home series in March, but with Rahul striking form in IPL, amassing a whooping 626 runs for Punjab Kings, one could not argue with Kohli.
Kohli also said that the team has almost sorted out Playing XI for the tournament.
"It is about adapting quickly, who plays where is what matters. We are pretty sorted in terms of how we are going to start in the first game.
"Outside of that we just want to give opportunities to guys in these games as much as possible. We will look to give game-time to most of them," he said. (UNI)
