Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Monday suspended three cricketers - Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Niroshan Dickwella for breaching the bio-bubble during their ongoing tour of England.

The SLC also ordered immediate return of all three cricketers to the country from Durham.

"Sri Lanka Cricket executive Committee has suspended Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka & Niroshan Dickwella for breaching the bio- bubble and they will be immediately recalled to Sri Lanka," SLC secretary Mohan De Silva said in a statement.

The announcement comes after a Twitter video showed Mendis and Dickwella in public domain, outside of the team bio-bubble. Gunathilaka was not seen in the video, but the three are believed to have stepped out together.

Reacting to the video, SLC vice-president Mohan de Silva said,' "The players have been suspended pending a full inquiry, but have confessed to having gone out."

Srilanka played the final T20I against England on Sunday and all three players were a part of the playing XI in the game.

The team has been already facing criticism for their woeful performance in the T20 series, where they were swept 3-0.

Sri Lanka will play the first of three ODIs with England on Tuesday at Chester le Street. (UNI)
