Jalandhar:Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori  inaugurated 65x35 graffitis of the ace shuttlers Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, the biggest ever in any badminton stadium, in local Hans Raj Stadium, Jalandhar.

The Deputy Commissioner said these graffitis will not only motivate the girls, but also inspire the budding players to achieve new feats in the field of sports.

He said these graffitis have been made under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme, to depict that the girls must be given freedom to join the sports, so that they can make their country proud one day like Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu.

Giving a new slogan of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, he said that women have played a stellar role in making India a front runner country in the country and people must promote their daughters to join the sports.

The Deputy Commissioner also lauded the Olympian Dipankar Bhattacharjee Academy for announcing that it would offer free coaching to the deserving children belonging to BPL families. Badminton is an expensive game and those from BPL families would pass the trials and trained free of cost, he added.

The DC also handed over Corona Warrior certificates to 30 trainees of the academy, who have been training since unlock-1, announced during the pandemic. He also appreciated the precautions and safety protocols, being followed in the stadium since June 3.Those present included interim committee members Rakesh Khanna, Aman Mittal and Ritin Khanna.

In separate tweets to the district administration, the two ace shuttlers thanked the administration for their graffiti made in Hans Raj Stadium and wished huge success of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao in the district for paving the way for women empowerment.(UNI)
