Lisbon: Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchuk was moved to tears when hundreds packing a sport stadium here gave him a standing ovation in the Primeira Liga match between S L Benfica and Vitoria SC in a sign of solidarity with his country following the Russian military invasion.
The footballer's eyes became moist as the spectator's clapping reached a crescendo before the start of the game on Sunday.
Yaremchuk was also handed the captain's armband for the final half an hour of the match. (UNI)
