Sochi: Uruguay crushed Portugal in the World Cup last-16 match as Cavani double earned a victory on Saturday by 2-1 to enter quarter final.
With this loss Portugal missed a chance to play in the quarter finals and their journey ended.
Portugal tried to equalise the score, when Pepe hit the net in the 55th minute of the match, but soon after gap of seven minute Edinson Cavani again scored a goal and brought his team on the path of victory.
Cavani hit goals on both of his shots in the game.In the 74th minute Uruguay made a change in their attack by introducing Stuani in place of Cavani.Earlier, Uruguay's Cavani scored a goal and both the teams were settled at 1-0 at halftime.Uruguay attempted five shots of which three were on target, while Portugal hit four shots on target of 20 shots. Uruguay will face France in quarter-final on Friday.
