New Delhi: Former India opener Virender Sehwag has announced that he will no longer be part of Indian Premier League (IPL) Kings XI Punjab.

All good things must come to an end and I’ve had a wonderful time at Kings XI Punjab, for 2 seasons as a player and 3 as a mentor. My association with Kings 11 comes to an end and I am thankful for the time I have had here and wish the team all the very best for the times ahead,” Sehwag wrote on his twitter handle on Saturday evening.

During his IPL career, from 104 matches, Sehwag has 2728 runs at an average of 27.55, with two hundreds and 16 fifties.

Earlier, the Punjab outfit had roped in former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson as their head coach, instead of Australia’s Brad Hodge.

Hesson quit as New Zealand coach in June with less than a year to go for the 2019 World Cup in England, saying “he wanted a break from the rigours of international cricket.”

Kings XI have never won the IPL and their last appearance in the play-offs came in 2014, when they lost to KKR in the final. (UNI)
