The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said it had issued guilty verdicts against 280 Russian athletes based on the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory (LIMS) database."Meanwhile, WADA’s Operation LIMS investigation into the data and samples retrieved by WADA Intelligence and Investigations from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory in 2019 continues to deliver results: 280 cases have successfully resulted in convictions, with more expected as all cases are followed up," the organization said in a statement yesterday.

The statement noted that the number of verdicts may increase, since disciplinary proceedings have been initiated in another 29 cases, and 13 cases of anti-doping rule violations are under investigation. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) remains one of three organizations that are not in compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code.

On September 22, 2023, the WADA Executive Committee decided that RUSADA remains deprived of full status due to inconsistencies in state legislation identified during a virtual audit in September 2022.

RUSADA sent a formal notice disputing WADA's decision. WADA referred the case of RUSADA's non-compliance to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).(UNI) <>
