Mumbai: Washington Sundar has been named as a replacement for Deepak Chahar for the remainder of the ODI series against South Africa, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday.
The BCCI said that Chahar had stiffness in his back after the third and final T20I against South Africa in Indore and did not feature in India’s Playing XI in the first ODI in Lucknow. He will head back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to be monitored by the Medical Team.
Washington has featured in four ODIs so far and had last the one-day match in February this year against West Indies in Ahmedabad.
Having lost the first match of the series, India will play the second ODI in Ranchi on October 9 and the final ODI of the series will be played in New Delhi on October 11.(UNI)
