Cape Town: Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir slammed test captain Virat Kohli for his "immature" reaction to the use of technology on the third day of the final Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
"Kohli is very immature. It’s worst for an Indian captain to say like this in stumps. By doing this you will never be an idol to youngsters," Gambhir told Star Sports on Thursday.
Later, Vice Captain K L Rahul was heard saying over the stump mic: "It's the whole country against 11 guys."
The incident happened in the 21st over of the final innings when R Ashwin hit Dean Elgar on the pads. South Africa's captain was given out lbw by the on-field umpire, but the decision was overturned on review with ball-tracking showing the ball going over the stumps.
Kohli then walked up to the stumps and spoke into the mic: "Focus on your team while they shine the ball. Not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time." (UNI)
