‘We are proud of you!’: Celebs sincere support towards Indian cricket team after World Cup loss

New Delhi: Bollywood celebs, who rooted for Team India throughout the Cricket World Cup, were heartbroken but proud of the team as Rohit Sharma's boys went down to Australia in the final at the Narendra Modia stadium on Sunday.

SRK, Vivek Oberoi and several others were among the leading tinsel town figures who followed the match ball by ball. Shah Rukh was even seen at the cosy VIP box of the giant stadium, cheering the team. Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh were also present.

Taking to X, Shah Rukh Khan wrote: “The way the Indian team has played this whole tournament is a matter of honour and they showed great spirit and tenacity. It’s a sport and there are always a bad day or two.”

“Unfortunately it happened today….but thank u Team India for making us so proud of our sporting legacy in cricket…u bring too much cheer to the whole of India. Love and respect. You make us one proud Nation.”

Vivek Oberoi, who watched the match with son Vivaan, said the youngster was "super heartbroken". He assured the team that his family would continue to be one of their biggest fans and exuded confidence that India will win the next edition of the World Cup.

"Super heartbroken, especially Vivaan. Commendable play by our teamindia throughout this series. Today could have been our big W but through and through we will be the biggest fans of our MenInBlue and the next cup will be ours", said Oberoi through X.

“your talent , capability and standing is beyond all that .. it is supreme .. the results of the 10 you played exhibited that  .. you are a feared team .. just see how many ex Champions and Winners you devastated in this WC .. you are the BEST .. and shall remain so .. #TeamIndia #RohitSharma,” Big B further said.

Abhishek Bachchan called it a "tough loss after a valiant effort".

Commendable performance by the men in blue throughout. Hold your heads high and thank you for the journey. TeamIndia," he posted on X.
