Indian Skipper Virat Kohli and Newzealand captain Kane Williamson shares a special bonding. Despite being a competitor on the field both are friendly off the field. Whenever the two greatest batsmen of the modern-day era faced off each other, cricket witnesses a contest that is thundering while the same can be said for the weather as far as ICC tournaments are concerned.
Since the year 2008, Kane and Kohli had a wet outing in ICC tournaments. The very first instance was ICC under 19 cricket world cup semi-final when both were sweating it hard to make it big and book a berth in the senior team. Virat Kohli got the better off Kane Williamson in that tournament and team India emerged victorious by 3 wickets. However, the rain did came and had a brief interruption in the match played at Kinara academy oval, Kuala Lampur.

After 11 years both had an encounter in the high octane battle of the semi-final of ODI world cup 2019, In a sea-saw battle played at Manchester, Kane had the last laugh and surged into the finals of the tournament. This match was bifurcated into two days after rain halted the Kiwi innings. The next day Newzealand completed the innings and India had to chase a modest target of 240 runs which they failed to do so and got bundled out for 221.

2 years later when both teams battled it out to make a place in the World test championship final, the clouds of uncertainty looms large over the result as two out of four days have been washed out without a single ball being delivered. If the same continues in Southampton, the penultimate clash of the WTC final is most likely to be declared a draw.

So Kohli drew the first blood in 2008, Kane punched with a come back in 2019, now 2021 is most likely to be, even stevens, that is poetic justice. Interestingly The duo who are part of the modern-day great club "Fab four" is good friends off the field.

But when it comes to on-field contest, the captains ensure no stone is unturned. This is the reason an intriguing battle of the top spot in the test ranking was also witnessed between both. At present Williamson who has just lost his numero uno rank to Aussie middle-order batsman, steve smith is a touch ahead of Virat who is placed at number 4 in ICC test batsmen Ranking.

This is due to the edge Kane Williamson has over Virat Kohli in head to head comparison. Out of 83 test matches, Kane has scored 7115 runs at an average of 54.31 with the help of 24 centuries and 32 half-centuries. While Virat Kohli has played 91 tests so far and scored 7490 runs at an average of 52.38. He has scored 27 centuries and 25 half-centuries (WD)
