Why there is anger against Kashmiris for celebrating Pak's win, asks Mehbooba

Srinagar: Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday asked why there is anger against Kashmiris for celebrating Pakistan’s win against India at T20 World Cup in Dubai.

Mufti called on people to take Pakistan’s victory in the right sprit.

“Why such anger against Kashmiris for celebrating Pak’s win? Some are even chanting murderous slogans- desh ke gadaaron ko goli maaro/calling to shoot traitors,” she tweeted while posting a picture of Virat Kohli shaking hand with Mohammad Rizwan after Pakistan’s victory.

“Lets agree to disagree & take it in the right spirit like Virat Kohli who was the first to congratulate the Pakistani cricket team,” she added.

7 detained for celebrating Pak victory against India in T20 World Cup

Jammu: At least seven persons have been detained while protests sparked against the supporters of Pakistan who celebrated its victory against India in the T20 Cricket World Cup. 

Official sources said that seven persons were detained on Monday in Samba district after their video of celebrating Pakistan victory went viral on social media last night.

“A case has also been registered and seven persons detained in this regard,” said sources.

Meanwhile videos of celebration of Pakistan victory were also circulated from some parts of Kashmir and Jammu Division.

Activists of Bajrang Dal and other social bodies staged separate protests in Jammu and Samba districts demanding action against those who raised Pro Pakistan slogans.

Action has also been initiated against many, police sources said.

Seeks action against anti-national elements celebrating Pak victory in T-20 cricket match Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI), Jammu, have expressed concern.

President Arun Gupta along with the office bearers condemned the celebration of Pakistan’s victory in the T-20 cricket match held between India and Pakistan in several parts of Kashmir and Jammu region.

He appealed to the government to look into the matter and take stern action against such anti-national elements who were trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu and Kashmir. (UNI)
