Misplaced your driving license or got it stolen? Don’t worry. Now you can apply for a duplicate Driving License (DL) online from the comfort of your home, without standing in long queues at the RTO. Thanks to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Parivahan portal, the process is now easy, secure, and fully digital. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you reissue your DL through Parivahan.gov.in.
Step-by-Step Process to Apply for Duplicate DL Online
Step 1: File a Police Complaint (FIR or General Diary)
Before starting the online application:

Visit your nearest police station and lodge an FIR or General Diary (GD) regarding the loss or theft of your original DL.

Keep a copy or scanned version of the FIR—it is required for the application.
Step 2: Go to the Official Parivahan Portal

Open https://parivahan.gov.in

Click on “Driving License Related Services”.

Select your residing state from the list.
Step 3: Choose "Apply for Duplicate DL"

After state selection, click on the "Apply for Duplicate Driving License" option.

Fill in your details including Driving license number (if available), Date of birth, Other personal details as per the old license.
Step 4: Upload Required Documents
You will need to upload the following:
