Lucknow Hosts ‘Run for India’ Marathon, Special Prayers in Prayagraj Ahead of T20 World Cup Final

Cricket fever gripped Lucknow and Prayagraj on Sunday as fans organised special events and prayers to support Team India ahead of the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

In Lucknow, the Lucknow Super Giants hosted a marathon titled ‘LSG Run – Run for India’ to cheer the Indian team before the big clash. The event began from the city’s 1090 intersection and saw enthusiastic participation from youth, women and children.

The marathon featured three categories — a 10-kilometre race starting at 6:30 am, followed by a 5-kilometre race at 7 am, and a 3-kilometre run for children and senior citizens at 7:15 am. Winners across all categories were honoured at around 8 am.

Participants wore the new Lucknow Super Giants jersey during the run, adding to the celebratory spirit. A significant number of women also took part in the marathon, making the event even more special as it coincided with International Women’s Day.

Fans attending the event expressed confidence in India’s chances in the final. Cricket enthusiast Abhinandan Pratap Singh said he believed the Indian team would deliver an outstanding performance and predicted that Hardik Pandya could emerge as the match hero. Another fan, Ashutosh, also expressed optimism about India’s victory.

Organisers said the initiative aimed to encourage residents, fitness enthusiasts and young people to stay active while also strengthening community spirit through sports.

Meanwhile, members of the Vishwa Hindu Raksha Parishad, led by its president Gopal Rai, performed a havan and special prayers at the Shiv Bhola Temple in Vishal Khand, Lucknow, seeking divine blessings for India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup final.

In Prayagraj, devotees gathered at the Koteshwar Mahadev Temple on the banks of the Ganges to pray for the Indian team’s success. Fans holding posters of players offered prayers to Lord Shiva, hoping for a historic victory.
